Focus Networking with the Chamber of Commerce. What do a cake maker, website designer, children’s leisure centre, alcoholic tea maker, window manufacturer, insurance company, gardener machinery repairer, caravan site, printer and computer support business all have in common.......? August 2007 10th August 2007 - New Service Delivering 1:1 Tailored Support for Businesses through the Focus project One aspect of the Focus project is a new service delivered by Success Matrix to provide businesses with 1:1 tailored business support. This service is intended to try to help businesses fulfil their potential within the South Holland area. The service is being provided by Reg Tibbitts a Business Adviser with 20 years experience and the very first few businesses have already started to see the benefits. Reg initially meets with the Owner/ Manager of each business to establish the current 'situation' of the business and establish hopes, aspirations and growth potential. Following an initial meeting Reg will produce a brief Situation Commentary from the information gathered, which would include a number of recommendations aimed at improving business efficiency and business competitiveness - potentially linked to:
The Situation Commentary may also highlight where the business can benefit from taking advantage of other aspects of the Focus partnership services. In order to ensure effective progress Reg will provide guidance on Action Planning by telephone/ email as required and will undertake a follow up meeting with each business to ascertain progress on recommendations and identify impact of aspects of the service provided and being accessed. July 2007 18th July 2007- Spalding Guardian- New Business to re-train racehorses in Spalding Kate Williams, a Gedney Hill woman has left her office job to follow her dreams of setting up a school to retrain racehorses. June 2007 Advance Rural Lincolnshire is launching events in South Holland, these events continue to be FREE to eligible businesses and include Business Planning, Point Marketing, Management and Website courses. To find out if you are eligible to go to: www.eastmidlandsnti.co.uk. NTI's objective is to help firms to increase their use of advanced technology and improve their skill levels. Through the NTI network of universityies and colleges, small and medium sized businesses can have access to a unique mix of skills, knowledge and resources. IT Grants for Tourism Businesses In responce to the increasing number of people booking holidays, short breaks and tickets online. East Midlands Tourism (EMT) and each of the official county based tourism bodies have joined together to help tourism businesses that aren't currently trading online to take better advantage of the benefits of e-commerce. Funding has been secured from East Midlands Development Agency, to find out more about the scheme and if you could be eligible please contact: David Jackson at Lincolnshire Tourism on 01522 561666. 7th June - Spalding Today - Shop is closing after 21 years A Donington shop is closing it's doors after more than 21 years in business because it's owner is retiring. Stella Thorold, of Stellas Fashions, is shutting her Market Place store as of November 1st so she can enjoy time with her husband who is also retired from farming. Mrs Thorold was in the process of selling the business but unfortunately it fell through, however she added "I would like to say a big thank-you to everyone for their support over the years" May 2007 15th May The Official Launch of the Focus For Businesses in South Holland, held at the Springfield's Center in Spalding on the 15th May 2007. The launch was opened by Cllr Eddy Poll from the Lincolnshire County Council. All the partners involved with delivering the Focus project then in turn presented their services and support available to eligible businesses within the South Holland area.
